Taking Flight:
What Career Transitions
Have Taught Me

I’ve been a little quiet online lately—and if you’ve been wondering why, it’s because I’ve been going through a career transition of my own. As someone who has spent over 13 years in Human Resources, then pivoted into Business English tutoring and Career Coaching over the past two years, I’m now stepping into a new chapter—embracing content creation in a more focused and intentional way. And while I’ve coached dozens of clients through career changes, this recent shift reminded me of a truth I know well but sometimes forget to live...

change is hard, even when it’s chosen!

The truth about career transitions is that they’re rarely neat and tidy. They’re not just about handing in your resignation or updating your CV. They’re emotional, confronting, and at times, deeply unsettling. For me, each shift—HR to coaching, coaching to content creation—has come with a mix of excitement and self-doubt. Who am I if I’m no longer the HR manager? Will people take me seriously as a coach? Can I build an audience and brand through content? These are real questions I’ve had to sit with, and I know my clients wrestle with similar thoughts during their own transitions.

Over the past few months, I’ve taken a step back to reflect and realign. I’ve revisited my values, explored what success now looks like for me, and focused on building something that feels authentic and sustainable. I often tell my clients that career is an evolution—and now I’m really living that truth.

We’re not meant to stay in one box forever. We grow, we learn, and we pivot. One thing we can count on is change.

If there’s one piece of advice I could give anyone navigating a career transition, it’s this: stay consistent with the habits that keep you grounded. Don’t drop your daily rituals just because everything else feels up in the air. For me, that means keeping up with meditation, hitting the gym regularly, making time for family, and staying connected to the things that give me stability.

When we’re in the process of change, it’s easy to let good habits fall away... But those very habits are the lifelines that will carry you through. They give you structure when work doesn’t. They remind you who you are outside of your job title. They help reduce anxiety and keep your mindset strong—especially when your confidence takes a knock.

So let’s give ourselves permission to take it slow. Let’s stop expecting perfection in the middle of reinvention. Whether you’re leaving an industry, starting a business, rebranding yourself, or trying something new altogether, remember this: your worth is not tied to your job title or how fast you figure it all out.

As I lean into this next phase of my professional journey—bringing together my love of coaching, language, and content—I’m more motivated than ever to help others find clarity in their own transitions. The process isn’t just about switching careers; it’s about becoming more of who you are.

To anyone out there who’s in the middle of their own career shift, I see you. Keep showing up. Stay grounded in your routines. Reflect on what you’ve already achieved and trust that the next chapter is forming, even if it’s still blurry. The pressure will come and go, but your consistent daily actions will be the thing that keeps you moving forward.

This is what growth looks like...

This is what evolution feels like...

And we’re in it together
